Two more days until I'm biting my nails and freaking out about every single bounce of the basketball in the NCAA tournament regionals. Why all the anxiety you ask? Because I filled out a freakin' bracket and even entered our work contest. My competitive nature just kicks in and takes control.
I know that brackets are bad for my blood pressure and my nerves, but I do them anyway. I do them because they also make the tournament much more fun. When you have a team to cheer for in every single game it makes it that much better. For example, of course I didn't pick either Siena or Villanova. So, when that game came on Sunday I could have cared less about the outcome.
Even when my precious Bulldogs were battling against the tigers, the thoughts of how the upset would negatively affect by bracket crept in (even though I purposely didn't pick MSU because I was scared of the jinx it would place on us). Of course, I picked some upsets that would have made me look genius, but they didn't pan out.
So, think of me on this weekend. If you hear about me snapping on someone, you can probably bet that it is because West Virginia beats Xavier or Davidson beats Wisconsin.

Is age really just a number?
I'm 24.
The other day when I was driving in to work, LeAnn Rimes was on the radio talking about her album and some other stuff I was half-way listening to. Then the DJs congratulated her on her 6th wedding anniversary, and went on to say how amazing it was that she got married when she was 19 and is now only 25.
It just blew my mind and I thought, she is only 1 year older than me and has accomplished so much. She's an accomplished artist, songwriter and as far as we know..a decent wife. I'm just starting my career and my marriage. I suddenly felt behind in life.
Then that same night, Lebron James put up 50 on the New York Knicks in major style after this pre-game warm up dunk:
He is just 23 and has been a professional basketball player for four years and a phenom his entire life. He's a millionaire with a clothing and shoe line and those cool, yet weird, Nike commercials. He's also a proud papa.
So, it all got me thinking. Jonathan and I are fairly young in the scheme of things, but do people like this make you feel just a little bit like an underacheiver?

country boy can survive
Those who know us well were probably wondering how long it would take for the Followill boys to end up on our blog in some fashion.
It goes without saying that we are huge fans of the Kings of Leon and all they do (musically--can't really love all their antics).
They're done with their Because of the Times tour and are hopefully back here in TN recording.
Well, since they have been back here in Tennessee they haven't exactly been low key. We came across this article not too long ago and it is just too good not to share. Please read about the 'tight jean tussle' below.
"But the real performance took place late Saturday night when members of AutoVaughn, Luna Halo, American Bang and Kings of Leon, along with their entourages of close pals and girlfriends, stopped by Blue Bar to play a few rounds of billiards before calling it a night.
The back room and dance floor were full of laidback folks hanging out for "The Boom Bap," a classic hip-hop party hosted by coolout, Sharkey, Rate and Bowls, but the rocker crew of nearly 30 occupied the front room at the bar and mostly kept to themselves, blowing off steam after their stellar performances at Mercy Lounge.
Problems arose at closing time, just before 3 a.m., when the lights came up and the group was heading toward the door. Apparently they weren't moving quite fast enough to suit the bouncer, who began yelling at the group, including the ladies, and trying to usher them out. (Several witnesses and club management all confirm our account of the events.)
At that point, Caleb Followill, lead singer and guitarist for Kings of Leon, decided he'd had enough. In true rock star fashion, he chucked his plastic cup of ice at the dartboards. All hell broke loose as security grabbed Caleb by the throat and forced him out onto the pavement.
Jaren Johnston, lead singer of American Bang, jumped into the tussle at that point, yelling "country boy can survive!" while throwing a punch that grazed the face of club owner Chuck Rota. Folks spilled outside, pushing and shoving. The cops arrived almost immediately.
Rather than stay and state their cases, everyone bolted in different directions just as fast as their tight jeans would allow.
In the very wee hours of Sunday morning, attorneys for one of the bands contacted the bar threatening legal action, but none of the rockers was willing to go back to Midtown to deal with the police. As of press time, no charges had been filed.
Club owner Rota, an ambassador of level-headedness, spoke to ATR about the fracas, saying, "(Stuff) happens. It's just part of owning a bar." He even said the musician crowd is welcome to return any time as long as they are "respectful" of his establishment. He even extended an olive branch by offering to buy them a pitcher of beer the next time they stop by.
Aww. That's some warm fuzzy feelings all around."

ahhhhh, the weekend
I love friday nights...just some time to unwind and relax and know that I get to sleep a little late tomorrow. So, to my 3 (maybe) readers, please get a little rest and relaxation before Monday rolls back around.
